What You Should Do Now
You can join Hull and East Riding Advanced Motorcyclists now as an associate member. Whether you attend our meetings or not you will receive a copy of our monthly newsletter containing an events list etc. Once you have signed up you will be able to benefit from our free advice and guidance to pass the Advanced Motorcycle test. When you have that under your belt you may want to become an observer yourself, and share with other motorcyclists your newly acquired skills.
But remember that from day 1 you will be part of a group of riders who enjoy their bikes, who ride for that enjoyment and want to continue to enjoy that thrill for many years to come.
Why don’t you come down to one of our monthly meetings and let us introduce ourselves? Or phone one of the contact’s shown who will be able to let you know of our next suitable ride depending on your experience to date.
What Else ?
As well as the monthly evening meetings all year round, we have associate training days, which involve assessment rides with qualified observers, social rides at weekends and evening rides during the summer months. These rides are organised by members of the group and can vary in distance, pace and venue, entirely at the organisers discretion. Pillions are never excluded but some rides are planned particularly for two up riding.
The observed runs will be on a one to one, or small group basis, depending upon the stage of your training. Frequent debriefs and stops for discussion are the order of the observed run. They take place in a mixture of urban and rural roads, major and unclassified, so that all forms of riding are developed. You will be advised when it is recommended that you should apply for the advanced test. This depends totally on the standard of riding when you join and your speed of advancement. You do not need to attend every observed ride although continuity is beneficial.
